the Breast Society of Ghana has called on women across the country to prioritise breast screening, stressing that early detection can significantly improve survival outcomes.
Dr Mary-Ann Dadzie, Radiation Oncologist at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, on Monday urged women who notice unusual changes in their breasts to seek medical attention within two weeks rather than delaying for months or even years to receive care.
Financial difficulties, caregiving responsibilities and inadequate social support could delay women from seeking timely breast cancer care, a gender expert has cautioned.
The Ghana Health Service, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other partners, has launched the National Pink Month 2026 under the theme, “Early Action, Better Outcomes” with a renewed commitment to strengthening breast cancer awareness, early detection, referral and access to quality care.
